Esta fecha&nbsp;recuerda el Primer Congreso Mundial roman\u00ed\/gitano celebrado en Londres el 8 de abril de 1971 en el que se instituy\u00f3 la bandera y el himno gitano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La bandera es verde y azul, simbolizando el cielo y el campo, con una rueda de carro roja en el centro, que simboliza el camino desde la India&nbsp;y la libertad. El himno gitano,&nbsp;<em>Gelem, gelem<\/em>&nbsp;(Anduve, anduve), fue compuesto por Jarko Jovanovic&nbsp;y recuerda a los gitanos y gitanas v\u00edctimas del nazismo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el 4\u00ba Congreso Internacional Gitano en Serok, Polonia se design\u00f3 el 8 de abril como D\u00eda Internacional del Pueblo Gitano en recuerdo de&nbsp;aquel&nbsp;Congreso de Londres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Desde hace unos a\u00f1os la fecha del 8 de abril est\u00e1 adquiriendo gran notoriedad, sirviendo de ocasi\u00f3n para distintas celebraciones y comunicaciones por parte de m\u00faltiples instituciones nacionales e internacionales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Ceremonia del R\u00edo es una de estas celebraciones que se realiza en muchas localidades.
